I read this at least three times throughout my career and each time something different resonated with me. I always recommend this book to anyone who is moving into a position of leadership for the first time and anyone who has been in a position of leadership for quite some time.

As an introvert, I related to this book. Sometimes society tells introverts they are incapable of being effective leaders because they're not loud or boisterous and outgoing. This is completely untrue and Ms Cain shows you how to harness your power as an introvert to be an effective leader.

Have you ever sat through a presentation and wondered when the presenter was going to get to the point? Or have you given a presentation and the non-verbal feedback around the room is less than thrilling? Mr. McCormack tries to help others solve that problem by explaining how to communicate effectively with senior leaders, peers, subordinates and clients by streamlining your information. 

Have you ever worked for a person who just didn't get it? Maybe it was someone who didn't see the members of their team as actual people, or they didn't see the value of understanding another person's perspective. In this book, John offers personal stories and suggestions on ways to connect with other people and why it's important as leaders to understand how to do this.

Retired USMC Colonel Gordon shares leadership principles that have helped him succeed in his military career. Most of these principles are applicable in any organization and in life. I recommend this to anyone who aspires to be a military commander.

Mr. Clear provides excellent insight into how and why habits are formed and broken. If you want to lead yourself authentically, you need to commit to good habits.

Although this is a fiction novel, the main character proves to be an encouraging leader who inspires others to achieve their dreams and goals. She does it by leading herself authentically and doesn't compromise her values or her beliefs, nor does she allow others to define who she is.

I wouldn't be a very good Certified Maxwell Team Member if I didn't recommend yet another John C. Maxwell book, would I? This book is a collection of leadership lessons John has learned over the years and now shares with you in a way that's easy to understand.

I like recommending this book because Mr. Watkins provides great suggestions and strategies for anyone starting a new job or leadership position. As a member of the Air Force, my colleagues and I start a new job about every two to four years. This book has been wonderful in helping me with the transitions and setting me up for success as quickly as possible with every new unit where I'm assigned. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to ease their transition at a new job as quickly as possible.
